A strong Vue.js development company in India should tell you in the first call whether Vue suits your product, which version and tooling it will use, and how it handles state, types and testing. If those answers sound identical to its React pitch, you are likely talking to a generalist agency, not a Vue team.

Where Vue earns its place
Vue is not a lesser React. It makes a different set of trade-offs, and those trade-offs suit some teams better.
Vue tends to win when
- You are adding interactivity to an existing server-rendered application, such as a Laravel or Django project, and want to adopt a framework progressively rather than rewrite.
- Your team includes backend developers or designers who are comfortable with HTML templates and want a gentle path into front-end work.
- You value official, first-party answers for routing (Vue Router) and state (Pinia) instead of choosing between competing community libraries.
- You like single-file components with templates, logic and scoped styles together.
React tends to win when
- You plan to share code or skills with a React Native mobile app.
- You need the broadest choice of third-party components and the largest hiring pool.
- You are committed to the Next.js ecosystem for rendering and hosting.
Our React partner guide covers the other side of this decision in detail.
Vue 3 in practice: what a current team works with
Composition API and script setup
Vue 3's Composition API, usually written with script setup, lets teams group logic by feature and extract it into reusable composables. The Options API is still supported, but a team that writes only Options API code on a new Vue 3 project is usually working from old habits.
Pinia for state
Pinia is the officially recommended state management library, and Vuex is in maintenance mode. A current team should explain when it uses a store and when local component state or a composable is enough.
Vite, TypeScript and tooling
New Vue projects are scaffolded with Vite. Expect TypeScript, type-checking with vue-tsc, ESLint, and the official Vue language tools in the editor. Unit tests usually run on Vitest with Vue Test Utils, with Playwright or Cypress for end-to-end flows.
Nuxt for server rendering
For public, search-dependent sites, Nuxt adds server-side rendering, static generation, file-based routing and data-fetching conventions. Ask whether a team has shipped Nuxt to production and how it handles caching and hydration issues.
Migration realities: moving off Vue 2
Vue 2 reached end of life on December 31, 2023, which means no further updates from the core team, including security fixes. Many business applications still run on it, so migration experience is a practical test of any Vue partner.
What actually breaks
The framework changes are well documented: global APIs move to createApp, filters are gone, the instance event bus methods are removed, and v-model behaves differently on components. Vue 2.7 backported the Composition API and the official migration build helps a codebase run in compatibility mode while issues are fixed. In practice, the bigger effort is often third-party: UI component libraries and plugins that have no direct Vue 3 equivalent.
Start any migration with an audit: list every dependency, check its Vue 3 support and flag components that rely on removed APIs. That inventory, not the framework changelog, determines the real effort.
Incremental upgrade or rewrite?
Most applications should upgrade incrementally: move to Vue 2.7, adopt the Composition API in new code, replace incompatible libraries, then switch to Vue 3 using the migration build.
Signs a rewrite is justified
- The UI library you depend on has no Vue 3 path and touches most screens.
- The product's requirements have changed so much that the old structure no longer fits.
- There are almost no tests, so a step-by-step upgrade cannot be verified anyway.
Signals of a real Vue.js development company in India
When you review a vendor's work or codebase, look for these:
- Composables with clear names and single responsibilities, not giant components with every concern mixed together.
- Typed props and emits, with strict TypeScript settings.
- Thoughtful use of reactivity: knowing when to use ref, reactive, computed and watchers, and avoiding watcher chains that are hard to debug.
- Accessible components, including keyboard navigation and form labels, built into the design system.
- Performance awareness: lazy-loaded routes, sensible bundle sizes and measured Core Web Vitals on public pages.
- Migration stories they can describe in detail, including what went wrong.
If you plan to hire individuals rather than a company, our guide on interviewing Vue.js developers beyond syntax has a screening approach. Vue is also common alongside Laravel; see our Laravel partner checklist if your backend runs on it.
An honest note from iJurug Soft
Our web work centers on React and Node, delivered by senior engineers through a Discover, Design, Build, Launch and grow process with fixed milestones. If you are still choosing a framework, we can compare Vue and React for your specific product during discovery. If you already have a large Vue codebase that needs a specialist, we will say so plainly. See our full services for the rest of what we build.
Frequently asked questions
Is Vue suitable for large applications?
Yes. With TypeScript, a clear module structure, Pinia and good testing, Vue scales to large products. Problems usually come from architecture, not the framework.
Should a new project use Nuxt or plain Vue?
Use Nuxt when public pages need server rendering for SEO or fast first loads. For an app that lives entirely behind a login, plain Vue with Vite is often simpler.
How long does a Vue 2 to Vue 3 migration take?
It depends on codebase size, test coverage and how many third-party libraries need replacing. A dependency audit at the start gives you a realistic plan; estimates made without one are guesses.
Can we keep running Vue 2?
You can, but the core team no longer updates it. Plan a migration path, especially if the application handles sensitive data or must pass security reviews.
