Before hiring an Unreal Engine development company in India, confirm that Unreal is the right engine at all. It excels at photoreal visuals, large environments and cinematic quality on PCs, consoles and tethered VR. It is heavier on mobile, standalone headsets and the web. Match the engine to your device, fidelity and team, then vet the partner's pipeline.
Unsure which engine suits your idea? Describe the project to us and we will help you frame the decision before any code is written.
Where Unreal Engine is the strong choice
Photoreal visualisation
Architectural walkthroughs, automotive configurators and luxury product showcases benefit from Unreal Engine 5's Lumen global illumination and Nanite virtualised geometry, which render detailed scenes with realistic lighting without the usual hand-optimisation of every mesh.
High-end PC VR and simulation
Training simulators running on powerful PCs with tethered headsets, driving or flight rigs, and large industrial scenes suit Unreal well, especially where visual realism matters to learning.
Virtual production and cinematics
Film, advertising and broadcast teams use Unreal for real-time rendering on LED volumes, previsualisation and marketing cinematics.
Digital twins and control-room visuals
Large industrial sites, campuses and infrastructure can be represented in Unreal with live data overlays, where the visual quality helps non-technical stakeholders understand what they are seeing. The data integration layer still needs ordinary backend engineering underneath.
Pixel Streaming
Unreal can render in the cloud and stream frames to a browser, so a phone can display a photoreal scene. It works well for showrooms and configurators, but every concurrent user needs GPU capacity on a server, so hosting and latency must be planned carefully. Test from the cities where your users actually are, on ordinary mobile connections, and decide how many simultaneous sessions you need to support at peak. The alternative for phones is a native Unreal mobile build, which is possible with careful optimisation but gives up much of the fidelity that made Unreal attractive.
Where Unreal is harder work
- Standalone headsets such as Meta Quest - possible, but Nanite and Lumen are not suited to mobile chipsets, so teams fall back to traditional optimisation. Unity is more common here.
- Mobile AR - Unity with AR Foundation, or native ARKit and ARCore, usually gets there faster.
- Browser-native 3D - Unreal no longer exports to HTML5. For link-and-play web experiences, Three.js, Babylon.js or PlayCanvas are the practical options, unless you use Pixel Streaming.
- Small, fast iterations - Unreal projects are large and builds are slow. For simple apps that is overhead you do not need.
Unity, Unreal or web: a quick decision frame
- What device will users actually hold or wear?
- How much does visual realism change the outcome (a sale, a learning result)?
- How many simultaneous users, and on what network?
- Who will maintain it after launch, and what skills do they have?
Pipeline questions to ask an Unreal Engine development company in India
Unreal projects succeed or fail on pipeline discipline. Ask any partner the following.
Assets and data
- How do you bring in CAD or BIM data? Datasmith handles many formats, but CAD still needs clean-up and material work.
- What is your approach to level-of-detail, texture streaming and memory budgets per target platform?
Code and Blueprints
Blueprints (visual scripting) speed up prototyping; C++ is needed for performance-critical systems. Ask how they split the two and how they stop Blueprint graphs becoming unmaintainable.
Version control and builds
Unreal assets are large binaries. Most professional teams use Perforce; some use Git with LFS or Unreal's own tooling. Ask about automated builds, packaging for each platform and how they test on target hardware rather than only in the editor.
Engine upgrades and licensing
Ask which engine version they will use, how mid-project upgrades are handled, and who holds responsibility for Epic's licensing terms, which differ for games and non-game uses. Read the current terms on Epic's site with your own advisers.
Performance targets on real hardware
Ask for specific targets: frame rate per device, maximum load time, memory ceiling. For VR, a consistent frame rate matched to the headset's refresh rate is essential for comfort. A partner who can only show editor screenshots, not recorded runs on target hardware, has not proved much.
Team composition
A typical Unreal visualisation needs a technical artist, environment artists, a gameplay or tools programmer and someone who owns lighting. Ask who fills each role on your project and how many of them are senior.
Ownership
You should receive the full project, source, art source files and build scripts. Marketplace assets carry their own licences; get a list.
Being clear about our fit
iJurug Soft's AR/VR practice is built mainly on Unity and WebXR, alongside WebGL and Three.js for browser-based metaverse work, all under our AR/VR and metaverse services. When a brief genuinely needs Unreal's fidelity, we say so during the Discover phase and help you frame the requirements and device choice so you can brief an Unreal specialist well. When Unity or the web will reach your users better, we build it with senior engineers on fixed milestones. Frequently asked questions
Is Unreal better than Unity?
Neither is better in general. Unreal leads on high-end visuals; Unity leads on mobile, standalone XR and ease of cross-platform builds. The target device usually decides.
What does Unreal Engine development cost in India?
It depends on fidelity, asset volume, platforms, streaming infrastructure and maintenance. We don't publish prices; share your scope and we will respond with a clear quote for the parts we build.
How long does an Unreal visualisation take?
It depends on the size of the environment, the state of the source CAD or BIM data and the number of target platforms. Clean source data shortens the timeline more than anything else.
Do we need our own Unreal developers after launch?
For frequently updated content, yes, or a support agreement with your partner. Static visualisations need far less.
